You may have noticed the yellow and green
dumpster behind Logan Elm High School, but did
you know the bin collects about 3,000 pounds of
recycled paper per month - that's 1 1/2 ton per
month.
Each ton of
recycled paper can save
17
trees, 380 gallons
of oil,
three cubic yards
of landfill space,
4,000
kilowatts
of energy and
7,000
gallons
of water!
Johnny
and Pete need your help! We have been
challenged to collect 12 tons (24,000 pounds) of
recycled paper between October 2007 and March
2008. Can we do it? We are encouraging you to
bring in your recycled paper and place it in the
bin, the bin is a community recycling point, not
just for Logan Elm use.
Our 1st pick-up in October resulted in
2,943 pounds!
The pictures below show Johnny and Pete emptying
McDowell's recyclable paper in the bin. You
can recycle Newspapers, Magazines, Office and
School Papers, Shopping Catalogs, Mail,
Envelopes, Shredded Paper (please place in
bags).
